Selecting a dentist isn’t always easy, especially when dental insurance is involved. It’s a complex world out there, and we’d like to help guide you a bit in your decision-making.
There are a wide array of questions that we get from our patients and potential patients about insurance plan types, benefits, fee structure, quality, and much more.
But let’s go ahead and address the main issue:
Dental Arts offers high-quality dental care for all patients, regardless of your insurance plan!
It’s that simple.
Now for some details…
In a previous blog post, we talked about the basics of dental insurance — common terms, coverage, procedures, payment, etc.—however, we’d like to go over more specifics of what Dental Arts specifically offers for you and your family.
There are two main types of dental insurance plans:
- Health Managed Organization (HMO)
- Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
Health Managed Organization (HMO)
HMO plans offer coverage for a fee on a monthly or yearly basis. This coverage is limited to those providers that work in-network only, meaning you’ll be working with a dentist who is assigned by the plan and is under contract with the insurance company, who set predetermined prices.
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
Similar to HMO, PPO plans also allow for coverage at reduced rates. The major difference is that a PPO plan lets you choose any dentist whether in-network OR out-of-network. Both in-network and out-of-network dentists can work with your insurance plan. However, when you go with an out-of-network dentist, you’ll pay a fee for services.
A couple of key things to remember:
- Out-of-network does not mean you can’t use your insurance at our practice.
- Out-of-network also doesn’t mean you won’t receive any benefits from your plan. It just doesn’t pay 100% for your visit.
- Most out-of-network dental offices do accept insurance. In fact, our dental staff will do everything to help file the claim for you! With Dental Arts, you can potentially be reimbursed for certain services, depending on your plan.
It’s critical to remember that taking advantage of professional dental services is an investment in your oral and whole-body health. Don’t let insurance dictate dental care. Invest in your long-term oral health and wellbeing by selecting a high-quality dentist, no matter what insurance plan you belong to.
Note: Depending on your particular insurance plan, different services or procedures may or may not be covered. Remember, out-of-network providers are not contracted with any insurance company, so fees will not be pre-negotiated.
