What is Full-Mouth Rehabilitation?

Although it may sound complicated, full-mouth rehabilitation is relatively straightforward. It involves combining multiple treatment options to rebuild and redevelop your overall dental health. Essentially, we’re talking about taking a comprehensive approach to healing and maintaining a healthy mouth.

Full-mouth rehabilitation is the extensive rebuilding of the mouth utilizing a team approach with a network of highly skilled dental specialists, ranging from dentists, hygienists, surgeons and orthodontists. We utilize an entire team of professionals to examine and enhance what’s possible for your oral health. It combines aesthetics with the science of restorative dentistry to improve the health, function, and beauty of the mouth.

We take a step back to evaluate the complete landscape and diagnose issues that impact your longer-term treatment plan.

Why full-mouth rehabilitation?

The reason for a full-mouth reconstruction plan is to optimize the health of the entire mouth. This goes beyond just teeth — we take a holistic approach to treating everything from the gums to the bite.

Depending on the extent of the case, sometimes it is necessary to replace or restore every tooth in the mouth using a combination of dental services. Even a minor cavity or a cracked or chipped tooth can create a significant problem if not treated properly.

Bottom line: we don’t believe in treating one tooth at a time.

Here are some of the types of issues that full-mouth rehabilitation addresses for patients:

  • Fractured, chipped or broken teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Teeth with gaps or crowding
  • Periodontal disease
  • Decayed and damaged teeth
  • Teeth affected by injury and trauma
  • Teeth affected by stains and discolorations

How does it work?

First, our team will conduct a thorough examination to assess the health of your teeth, gums and determine the extent of any damage. We will run tests using the latest technology and develop a treatment plan based on the results.

Should we determine that full-mouth rehabilitation is the best course of action, we will talk with you about the most ideal options to be included in the procedure. We’ll develop a custom treatment plan designed to maximize results and give you the smile you’ve always wanted. Your plan is your roadmap to a healthy, happy smile that lasts a lifetime.

At the end of our work with you, your teeth will outlive you! (as long as they are properly maintained!)

What types of treatments are available?

Every patient is different, which means every issue and solution is different. The treatment options for full mouth rehabilitation may consist of one or many elements, depending on the results of our diagnosis. At the end of the day, your treatment comes down to what’s right for you and your specific situation.

That being said, here are some examples of the more common treatment options:

  • Porcelain dental veneers
  • Dental crowns
  • Dental implants
  • Implant-supported dentures
  • Full sets of dentures
  • Teeth whitening
  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Orthodontics

For most people, “dentistry” is equated with pearly whites and improving the aesthetics of individual teeth. While everyone wants a gorgeous smile, at Dental Arts, we believe that in the long-term, there is much more to the mouth than what we see at a glance.
